Welcome to the 2013-14 school year!
We are up and running and LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT! :-)
The first Science Notebook check was conducted by each student 9/6/13.
All students are encouraged to review the 5-point scoring rubric with a parent or guardian:
*5 Requirements of assignment exceed expectations, in-depth understanding is clear.
*4 Requirements of assignment are met, understanding is evident.
*3 Most requirements are met, but limited understanding is evident.
*2 Some requirements met but assignment incomplete, minimal understanding evident.
*1 Very little evidence of requirements or understanding.
(A more detailed rubric is in each student's science notebook)
Students have 1 week to improve any scores on notebook entries that are a level 3 or lower.
The 1 week deadline is Friday, September 13, for this notebook check.

Yep, Cornell Notes are a big part of how we process information in 8th grade science, and I know you are all experts at using them :-).
